JRR Tolkien - "The Lord of the Rings"

The Lonely Mountain?

Tolkien visited The Black Mountains and Forest of Dean between the wars and saw the contrast between the raw natural beauty of the area and the approaching devastation of industrialisation. Many references to this area emerged in his subsequent writings. This tour will give you a glimpse of Tolkien's inspirational sources and allow you to experience the beauty of this area and how parts have recovered as a post industrial landscape. The UNESCO World Heritage Site will also be visited.
