Kilvert's Diaries

Hay-on-Wye, Clyro, Kilvert Hay-on-Wye as seen from the road from Clyro, Kilvert's first curacy.

In 1865 Francis Kilvert became curate of Clyro, a mile from Hay-on-Wye. He was an avid diarist and his work has given a fsacinating insight into mid Victorian life in the Welsh Marches. He went onto become vicar of St Harmon, near Rhayader and Bredwardine in Herefordshire. Our tour will visit the locations described by Kilvert and will seek a sense of what remains of Kilvert's lost world. For more information on Kilvert, click here.
