We were in Hay on Wye in June and relying on public transport to
get around. It looked like getting to the Black Mountain area was going to be impossible but then I found Rob! He picked us up at 10 at our B&B and gave us a perfect day driving
through the beautiful countryside he knows so well. He was a mine of information about the history, geology and plant life of the area and got us to places that most tourists miss out on... Rob
tailors his tours to the customers preferences, and even gives you the option of a pub lunch or a picnic that he prepares himself. If given the choice, take the picnic! The area itself is
gorgeous, quite wild in spots and a perfect setting for some lovely old churches...Capel y Finn, Partrishow, and the charmingly off kilter Church of St. Martin, which is gradually slipping down the
hillside due to shifting subsoil beneath it. We had our picnic here...an idyllic setting for it.
We did stop for a drink at a pub later in the day and then it was
off to Abbey Dore and Arthurs Stone, a Neolithic burial chamber. This was our final stop before Rob dropped us off back in Hay around 6 pm....a wonderful day filled with unforgettable sights
and sounds, all made possible with Exploring MId Wales tours . For those of us without a car, it was a special day we could not have had otherwise and you will find no better guide to the area than
Rob.
