The Silver Hills

Dyfi furnace, Ceredigion

The Ceredigion hills inland of Aberystwyth once hummed to the sound of industry. Today they are silent havens of peace, producing electricity, drinking water and timber but in the nineteenth century it was silver, lead and zinc that was sought. Our suggested tour visits both the remnants of the mining industry and explores today's land uses that dominate the countryside here. The area also abounds with wildlife so we can certainly explore the forests and valleys too.
