Check back here to find out what went on at Exploring Mid Wales.
A short, wintry hill walk on the Blacks, climbing from Pengenffordd, past the Iron Age Hillfort of Castell Dinas onto Y Grib. We reached the beautiful cairn for a brief stop and then circled around Mynydd Bychan and Y Das to lunch above the byway of Rhiw Cwnstab, seeing a large group of motorbikes descending that way. We completed the walk by pen Y Manllwyn and a rapid descent with fine views of the snowclad Beacons to the west.
We thought we'd re-walk the beautiful Wye Valley Walk, so this is our first installment, walking from Builth Wells down to Llyswen. There was snow on the hills and a keen northerly blowing.
A short hill run with lovely views of the Wye valley and the distant snow-clad Black Mountains. Aberedw Rocks are a great place to run, mountain bike or ramble. We know the area very well and are keen to share its delights!
