Fforest Fawr Geopark Ambassador
Rob's already trained as a Brecon Beacons National Park Ambassador but this month he took a day two day course with Alan Bowring the National Park geologist. Based at Craig y Nos country park and Pontneddfechan in the upper Neath valley, the course trained local business people in the geological features of the geopark.
Wales' first geopark, Fforest Fawr covers the western half of the Park and abounds in places of interest to those interested in geology, geography, history and archaeology. Rob intends to offer specialist tours to explore aspects of the geopark.
Offa's Dyke Path
Rob and Sarah continued their walk up the Offa's Dyke National Trail. The trail has been in place since 1970 and stretches 168 miles along the line of the ancient 8th century earthwork, Offa's Dyke. Our second day saw us walk from Bigsweir over to Redbrook and then over The Kymin to the delightful market town of Monmouth Day Three saw us head north west from Monmouth to the tiny village of Llantillio Crosenny. A cold but beautiful day.
Dark Skies Reserve Ambassador
Rob has qualified as an ambassador for the Brecon Beacons Dark Skies Reserve. Mid Wales has the darkest skies of England and Wales and this produces stunning night skies. Rob offers exploration of the night sky - for more information click here.
