***** This was one of the best weekends we've had exploring the UK. Rob and Sarah are magnificent hosts. Nevermind the time we arrived, they always welcomed us with a cup of tea and biscuits in their cozy living room. The room was great, the bed was comfortable, and if you open the window you can hear the sound of the river Wye. We loved listening to the birds in the morning. We were lucky enough to be able to enjoy a thunderstorm passing by from the comfort of our bed one night, and the full moon the next one. Really great location! Every morning we got breakfast served. Rob makes a generous full English breakfast. Sarah's Welsh rarebit was super good. The highlight of our stay was the homemade jams. They vary with the season. We got to try marmalade, hedgerow jelly, and raspberry jam. The hedgerow jelly is made from fruits from the hedgerows including blueberry and sloe (the fruit of the blackthorn), really good! The raspberry jam is made from raspberries they grow in their own garden. This is the best raspberry jam we've ever tried! We decided to stay at Swn-y-Gwy because we're visiting Hay-on-Wye for the literary Hay Festival. The town and the grounds of the festival are a 15 minute drive away. We also visited Pen-y-Fan in the Brecon Beacons national park. It's about a 30 minute drive from Swn-y-Gwy. Lovely views and a great hike. We will definitely stay again with Rob and Sarah. We're looking forward to exploring more of Wales with their guidance.

"Welcomed with a cup of tea and home made cake, room was excellent, (as described), and given lots of information about the area. Hosts went out of their way to ensure we saw the best the region had to offer, saw places we would never have found on our own. Choice of breakfast each day was much appreciated. Welcomed into their lounge in the evenings. Rob is utilising his extensive local knowledge/interests as a basis for his new website www.exploringmidwales.co.uk. Arrived as guests and left as friends!"

"Sarah and Rob were very welcoming and helpful. Comfortable room, quiet night's sleep, great cooked breakfast." Tim, London
"A lovely home in a beautiful part of the world. Not hard to get a great night's sleep in such a peaceful area. Sarah (and husband Rob!) are very welcoming indeed, they offer a lovely big room and prepare an excellent breakfast. As I was on a charity "expedition" they offered me dinner too, which was great and provided some much-needed conversation for me. I was on foot, but the location would be great for exploring the Brecon and border regions."
